Genndy Tartakovky (1970) is a Russian animator,
animation director, producer and screenwriter (naturalized American) known in
the industry for being the creator of animated series such as Dexter's
Laboratory, Sym-Bionic Titan, Star
War: Clone Wars and Samurai Jack for Cartoon Network.
He is also known for directing the animated film Hotel
Transylvania, along with its first two sequels, being this saga a success at
the box office.
Dexter’s Laboratory (1996)
Animated series premiered in 1996 for the Cartoon
Network television network, a series that grew out of a short film he made
while studying at the California Institute of The Arts.
The series stars Dexter, a boy genius who has a secret
laboratory in his room, where each episode tells of his adventures in the lab
and how his sister Dee-Dee intervenes to thwart his plans or simply annoy him

of darkness, set in a post-apocalyptic future.
With this series, Genndy wins the Emmy Award for best
animated program under one hour in 2004.
In 2003 the series Star Wars: The Clone Wars was
released, with the approval of George Lucas (creator of the saga), who hired
Genndy to direct it.
The series narrates the Clone Wars, which take place
between the films Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. This series is
the winner of three Emmy Awards, two for best one-hour animated program (2004-
2005) and one for best individual achievement in animation (2005).
Sym-Bionic Titan (2010)
In 2010, Genndy returned to create another animated
series called Sym-Bionic Titan, which aired on Cartoon Network. The series
tells the story of three characters who arrive on Earth escaping from their
war-torn planet.
The series had only one season of 20 episodes and was
subsequently cancelled.
Hotel Transylvania (2011)
The film featured a stellar cast, with actors such as
Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Steve Buscemi, Selena Gomez and Kevin James. The
success of this first installment led to two more sequels, also directed by
Genndy Tartakovsky. The project eventually became a franchise.
Primal (2019)
This project was created and directed by Genndy in 2019, being one of his most recent works. The animated series has a more adult tone and has been broadcasted by Cartoon Network's Adult Swim slot, which broadcasts animated series with more adult content.
Primal narrates the adventures and misadventures of a
caveman named Spear, with excellent hunting skills, and a tyrannosaurus named
Fang, who is on the verge
of extinction. The series has no dialogue and
everything is told through the action and the relationship between the two
characters.
Unicorns: Warriors Eternal (2023)
It is his most recent project, premiering in 2023, and
is an adult animated fantasy series airing on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. The
series currently has only one season and is still on the air.
It tells the story of a group of heroes in an
industrial revolution London who must battle an evil force to unravel the
mysteries of their past.
